An independent body serving the Palestinian community in the UK and raising awareness about the Palestinian cause.
London – The Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB) affirms its participation, among a coalition of British organisations, Freedom Flotilla 2, which should consist of more than 15 ships expected to sail from several ports around the world to Gaza towards the end of the May.
This participation comes in response to the call of brotherhood and duty to support our people under siege, and to contribute to lifting the injustice of the oppressed, and to express the solidarity of the Palestinian community in Britain with our people in Gaza.
The Forum is in communication with politicians, parliamentarians, and British worker unions and community leaders to be part of the British delegation on the flotilla. It will also provide a platform for members and leaders from the Arab and Palestinian community in Britain to participate in this global grass-roots effort to end the siege on Gaza.
The Palestinian Forum in Britain calls upon its members and friends and all members of the Arab and Muslim community and all civil society institutions in Britain to contribute financially, politically and in publicity to guarantee the success of this project.
The Forum also demands from the British government to make real and sufficient efforts to prevent the Israeli occupation state from repeating its crime against the peace and human rights activists on board.
A UK based non-profit making NGO concerned with defending the human rights of Palestinians and protecting the sacred al-Aqsa Sanctuary in Jerusalem. This vision is supported by various international groups and organisations. Friends of Al-Aqsa was first established in 1997 and now has an international support base.
Why Friends of Al-Aqsa are participating in the Freedom Flotilla II
The siege on Gaza may not be occupying news headlines anymore but the abject poverty and misery it has created is ongoing. Children in Gaza have now become accustomed to being malnourished and living without even the basics which every child should be able to take for granted – school books, classrooms instead of tents, and a healthy diet.
There is no security in Gaza whether you are young or old. For this reason alone Friends of Al-Aqsa is supporting the second Freedom Flotilla to Gaza. And we will continue to do so until the borders are open and the Palestinians in Gaza have a chance to recover and rebuilt their lives in peace and security.
Formed by justice, peace and human rights campaigners, the British Muslim Initiative (BMI) is an organisation which seeks to fight racism and Islamaphobia, combat the challenges Muslims face around the world, encourage Muslim participation in British public life, and improve relations between the West and the Muslim world.
Why BMI are participating in the Freedom Flotilla II
The British Muslim Initiative participation on the Freedom Flotilla 2 is to highlight the need to end Israel’s illegal siege on Gaza. Whilst the world’s attention has been diverted towards what is happening in Libya, it is important not to forget that Israel’s illegal siege on Gaza is continuing with the complicity of governments such as ours, who allow Israel to violate UN resolutions and international human rights laws.
A UK group that campaigns against what it believes are unjust wars. The coalition has opposed the various wars that are claimed to be part of the ongoing “War on Terrorism”. It has been the most prominent group in Britain campaigning against the war in Afghanistan and the Iraq War.
PSC is an independent, non-governmental and non-party political organisation with members from many communities across Britain, and increasingly throughout the world. PSC represents people in Britain from all faiths and political parties, who have come together to work for peace and justice for the Palestinian people.
Why PSC are participating in the Freedom Flotilla II
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign is participating in the Britain2Gaza initiative because ending Israel’s illegal siege on Gaza must be a priority for all those who support peace, justice and international law.
The participants who will sail on the Freedom Flotilla 2 will carry the wishes, dreams and hopes of millions worldwide who are committed to ending the Israeli blockade.
We oppose the action of governments, including our own, who allow Israel to violate UN resolutions and international human rights law with impunity.
International solidarity led to the fall of apartheid in South Africa. International solidarity today can bring peace and justice for the Palestinian people. We will not stop until the siege on Gaza is ended, and Palestine is free.
